Wales’ first appearance at a FIFA World Cup was 64 years in the making, so it had to be marked by doing something a bit special didn’t it – step forward Qymru!
After a chat with a few friends after the Wales v Ukraine final whistle and a realisation over a few pints that Wales were actually going to Qatar (try and stop yourself singing Waka Waka while you’re reading this!). The day after the match, I got to work and after a word of advice from good friend and all round good bloke Owen Williams, of Siml, Qymru was born!
Combining the words Cymru and Qatar, the distinctive brand mark is based around an Arabic font with the plan originally to design a few t-shirts that supporters both going to Qatar and staying at home could wear.
The rest as they say, is history and boy did we have fun with this! We made the national papers, wrapped our car, created the national flag of Qymru and even sent a t-shirt to Huw Edwards, THE Huw Edwards!
